Snowy UBC

In the Event of Snow/Extreme Weather

In the event of heavy snow or an extreme weather event, visit the UBC home page (www. เว็บพนันบอล ดีที่สุด www.rockyandballs.com or ok. เว็บพนันบอล ดีที่สุด www.rockyandballs.com) for details on campus conditions.

Faculty & Staff Checklist: Advance Preparation

  • Review your department’s snow procedures. Know your department contact in the event of snow or extreme weather conditions.
  • Learn if your position is deemed “essential”. If so, make sure you know your rights and responsibilities.
  • Learn about your department’s plans in the event the university cancels classes or curtails non-essential services during inclement weather.

Faculty & Staff Checklist: In the Event of Snow/Extreme Weather

Campus Safety

When extreme weather comes to UBC, Building Operations in Vancouver and Facilities Management in the Okanagan are responsible for managing snow and ice. Find out more about how campus will be kept safe during extreme weather, and how to report slippery conditions: Vancouver | Okanagan. To help keep yourself safe, please ensure you wear appropriate footwear when outdoors and use the main entrances of buildings.

Extreme Weather

Pursuant to Policy 68 (PDF), if UBC is subject to extreme winter weather conditions, the administration may decide to cancel classes and curtail non-essential services. Faculty, staff and students should visit their campus website?(www. เว็บพนันบอล ดีที่สุด www.rockyandballs.com or ok. เว็บพนันบอล ดีที่สุด www.rockyandballs.com) for notices and information. While the university will inform TV and radio stations of campus conditions, the UBC homepage is the authoritative spot for all information. Department heads and administrators should have clear procedures in place to notify students, staff and faculty when classes are cancelled and non-essential services curtailed.

Make sure all faculty and staff know the procedures, and how they are to learn about current conditions. This may include updates on the faculty or department home page, emails, recorded voice mails in offices, and telephone trees.

During the Day

If classes are cancelled or non-essential services are curtailed during the day, post signs in high traffic areas, and have faculty and staff walk around to social spaces and classrooms to inform others. If you have staff in essential services positions, these positions must be pre-designated and staff need to be aware of the notification process.

If you have essential CUPE 2950 positions, follow the process as outlined in Article 13.01 and Letter of Agreement 13.01, which requires communication with Human Resources (contact Korey Onyskevitch at korey.onyskevitch@ เว็บพนันบอล ดีที่สุด www.rockyandballs.com) and the union. This does not preclude your ability to request additional essential services should the need arise.

Campus-Specific Communications

Communications regarding winter or extreme weather conditions are campus-specific (Vancouver campus, Okanagan campus, and the hospitals).
